KINDER AND TK - 104
Welcome to Kindergarten at First Baptist School. Each year our class participates in many exciting learning experences. Our curriculum includes reading, math, science, social studies, health, music, and art. The new California Core Standards are becoming an essential part of our program. Our kindergarten curriculum not only meets, but exceeds state standards. Our students also have a chapel time in their classroom daily as well as attending the school chapel time weekly. Biblical values are taught and scripture is memorized. Our small teacher/child ratio provides each student with individualized instruction and it gives Miss Natlaie the opportunity to customize learning activities to meet the needs of each student. To meet the physical education requirement, our students attend our Motor Development Program at least three times a week and they also particpate weeky in the Amazng Athletes Program.
Each year there are many special units of study and celebrations that enhance the Kindergarten experience. Students will also have many opportunities for hands-on exploration and discovery as they are learning, making their time in school enjoyable. It is our goal to prepare each of our students for their upcoming formal education and to instill in them the love of learning.
Transitional Kindergarten is designed as an early education program that builds a bridge between the preschool years and kindergarten. It is intended for children with birthdays between September 2 and December 31 who do not qualify for kindergarten with the new state starting dates and for those who may not be socially and/or academically ready for entry into a traditional kindergarten program, although they are age-eligible.
Our Transitional Kindergarten Program gives children the “gift of time” to build necessary social and academic skills that will prepare them for success for their future education experience. Our Transitional Kindergarten Program is based on the California Kindergarten Standards and it includes instruction in literacy, numeracy with a strong emphasis on self-regulation and social engagement. Our Transitional Kindergarten Program has adopted the State of California Common Core Standards so that children leaving our program will be able to enter a Kindergarten program anywhere in the state and be prepared for success.
It is our desire to provide a program that will not only meet the needs of your child where they are currently, but to prepare them for the challenges that kindergarten will present. We do this in a loving Christian environment that nurtures growth and development in a setting that is stress free and with a small teacher/child ratio. We believe that with the small teacher/child ratio promotes individualized instruction and fosters independence and self-confidence necessary for future success.
